Keep on Truckin'

Sunday evenings can sometimes feel like the most depressing time of the week. The weekend is about to be over, and we have to go back to adulting. And there are weeks in which you feel you have so much to do and how in the world are you going to get it all accomplished and still keep your head screwed on straight?! We all experience this in some form, so hopefully these words will provide a little encouragement for the week ahead…

Whatever it is you are stressing out about… Whatever it is you are working toward or trying to change… Whatever that thing is in the future… you. will. get. there. Sometimes slowly, but always surely, if you just keep going. Keep moving forward.

Take a step back for a minute, breathe, and give yourself credit for what you have already accomplished. You may not yet be exactly where you want to be, but neither are you where you used to be. And every bump in the road and every moment of feeling overwhelmed and unsure, is an opportunity for learning and growth. Give yourself some love. Be gentle with yourself. You’re human and you’re doing the best you can. You will have moments in which you will wonder: what in the hell have I gotten myself into and you may feel like giving up. Do not give into these thoughts. Instead turn your attention back to the helpful thoughts that tell you to keep on trucking, that you are awesome, and that you have the power to make positive things happen in your life. And always remember that these moments of overwhelm and insecurity and doubt are temporary but also necessary. If we did not have moments in which we were forced to think about our whys or the reasons we are working toward a certain goal, then we would just stop because there would be no point, right? Use these moments to remind yourself why you are fighting for that thing. Then let this re-light your fire, be kind to yourself and take care of yourself and your needs, and then just keep on truckin’!
